Free plans and credits for students, taken from each official page. Each one asks you to verify that you are a student, and several must be renewed every year. Some need a payment method and renew as paid plans unless you cancel; the catch on each entry says so.

What you get
Free GitHub Pro and Pro level Codespaces access while you are a student, plus a catalog of partner offers.
How to get it
In your GitHub Education benefits settings, click Start an application, complete the form and submit it; once approved, use your benefits from the GitHub Education portal.
What it requires
A GitHub personal account, enrollment in a degree- or diploma-granting program such as a high school, college, university, or homeschool, documents that prove your current student status, and age 13 or older.
The catch
GitHub Pro is free only while you are a student, and partner offers have their own terms, such as the Azure offer being for students aged 18+.

How to get it
Go to github.com/settings/education/benefits, apply and complete verification if you are not yet a verified student, then click Learn more under Free GitHub developer resources for students and teachers and follow the prompts to activate Copilot Student.
What it requires
Verified student status on GitHub Education (apply through GitHub Education if you are not yet verified).
The catch
Models are available through auto model selection only, third-party agents are excluded, and activation can take several days after your verification is approved.

You must verify your education status, and using Figma with students under 13 requires the school to sign Figma's terms for schools.
